Vibrant Corporation’s PCRT technology is being applied by a major US airline to conduct nondestructive testing of main landing gear wheel tie bolts. Vibrant has installed an inline state of the art PCRT system that detects the presence of unserviceable cracking and corrosion. The system was approved after the customer conducted a metallurgical study that showed PCRT had superior sensitivity to the defects of interest. The previously required UT inspection for cracks and visual inspection for corrosion has been replaced by the new PCRT system. Additional advantages of this PCRT application are that test cycle time is reduced to between 3 and 5 seconds, and the bolts require no cleaning prior to testing.
About Vibrant
Vibrant Corporation has commercialized Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) for use in the aerospace and power generation industries. The PCRT technology, licensed from Magnaflux Quasar, is a revolutionary non-destructive testing technology that can determine if a component is structurally sound and fit for service. Vibrant has developed PCRT applications focused on the safety critical components found in the aerospace industry. These applications bring the power of PCRT to bear on new product quality control and in-service product degradation tracking. Vibrant is now performing testing services for several major aerospace manufacturers and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) firms.
