Albuquerque, N.M. (February 22, 2023) – Vibrant is pleased to announce it has received a trademark for the REXTM variant of its Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) systems.
Standard PCRT systems include transducers mounted beneath custom fixtures designed to load specific parts for testing. The new REX variant PCRT system features the transducers on a robotic arm that can move directly to the part, eliminating the requirement for custom part-specific fixtures, and allowing a single system to easily test a range of part geometries. As a result, MRO facilities that handle various part numbers and types, as well as additive manufacturers producing a diverse range of parts, will benefit from this innovation.
Fully automated, REX delivers greater flexibility in testing a wider variety of parts with one system while avoiding custom fixture manufacturing costs and human interpretation error.
“As additive manufacturing becomes more prominent in the manufacturing landscape, there is real demand for a cost-effective testing method with the flexibility to test multiple part variations,” says Vibrant President Lem Hunter. “Vibrant continues its legacy of disruptive NDT innovation with REX, providing cost-effective, repeatable, and reliable testing for parts in environments with lower volume and a higher mix of part numbers.”
Vibrant’s patented PCRT technology includes proprietary software and user-friendly hardware available as a service at Vibrant’s factory or as a full system delivered and operating in a customer’s facility. Programmed to inspect a customer’s specific parts to their specifications, PCRT measures the resonance frequencies of whole parts, combining the collection of broadband resonance data in the ultrasonic frequency range with advanced pattern recognition to produce an accurate, rapid, and automated nondestructive inspection. Parts with flaws or changes in material and geometric properties affecting structural performance are immediately detected and flagged.
About Vibrant
Vibrant’s whole part inspection approach is changing how aerospace, automotive, and power generation markets conduct nondestructive testing (NDT). Our revolutionary Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) measures resonance frequencies through whole parts, allowing customers worldwide to test every part and significantly increase final product quality. PCRT applications range from quality assurance and process capability assessment for OEMs to in-service structural assessment and life monitoring for MRO organizations. With facilities in the U.S. and Europe, Vibrant is AS9100 Rev C and ISO 9001:2008 certified.
