Vibrant has earned a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract (number: SP4701-18-P-0102) with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The program will fund Vibrant’s development of a sensor suite for monitoring additive manufacturing (AM) processes. The sensor suite will use Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) in concert with X-ray diffraction, and will evaluate other potential sensors. Vibrant was chosen to lead the project for its extensive experience in AM process monitoring and inspection, and in inspection systems integration. The Phase I program scope is six months and $100,000.
“Our new SBIR is a great opportunity to continue building our relationship with the DLA, and to develop new capabilities for monitoring of additive manufacturing processes,” said Eric Biedermann, the principal investigator for this project. “The tools we’ll develop in this project will ensure the quality of additively manufactured parts for a host of DLA applications.”
