Vibrant Corporation has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. The $150,000 contract requires Vibrant to determine the sensitivity of its resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS) models and measurements to various sources of error. The knowledge gained from these studies will enable more accurate nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of critical aircraft and engine components for military and civil aerospace. For this program, Vibrant has partnered with Computational Tools of Gurnee, IL, an NDE modeling company.

“As we develop analytical and numerical modeling capabilities for RUS, it is critical to understand the relative contributions of sources of error so we can produce the most accurate results possible. This program is an excellent opportunity to do that,” said Vibrant Director of Technology Leanne Jauriqui. “Computational Tools has always provided outstanding modeling work on our other programs, and we’re excited to partner with them again.”
