Vibrant Corporation has earned Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) 6 for its automated Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) system for silicon nitride ceramic rolling elements. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) granted the designation after Vibrant completed on-site prototype tests and passed a Manufacturing Readiness Assessment (MRA). By earning TRL/MRL 6, Vibrant has fulfilled a major goal of its ball inspection project under AFRL’s Advanced Manufacturing Propulsion Initiative (AMPI). Eric Biedermann, Vibrant’s principal investigator for the program, said, “We’re very proud to have earned TRL 6 and MRL 6 with the Air Force. This marks a major step forward for PCRT on this application, and it puts us on a firm footing to continue implementation of the technology with our Air Force and industry partners.”
About Vibrant
Vibrant Corporation has commercialized Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) for use in the aerospace and power generation industries. The PCRT technology, licensed from Magnaflux Quasar, is a revolutionary non-destructive testing technology that can determine if a component is structurally sound and fit for service. Vibrant has developed PCRT applications focused on the safety critical components found in the aerospace industry. These applications bring the power of PCRT to bear on new product quality control and in-service product degradation tracking. Vibrant is now performing testing services for several major aerospace manufacturers and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) firms.
