Vibrant Corporation has been awarded a two year $740K Phase II SBIR by the Department of Defense. Vibrant Principle Investigator Leanne Jauriqui said “While I can’t tell you the specifics of the project, or the members of our Team, I can say it is a pleasure to work with two major turbine engine manufacturers on such a critical component of the JSF platform.” The project will involve the application of Process Compensated Resonance Testing to hybrid bearing rolling elements. These new bearings offer the potential for greater efficiency and reliability in many types of turbo-machinery. PCRT will provide a much quicker, more accurate test result than current NDE methods being used.
About Vibrant
Vibrant is a spin off of Mechtronic Solutions, Inc. that has commercialized Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) for use in the aerospace and power generation industries. The PCRT technology, licensed from Magnaflux Quasar, is a revolutionary non-destructive testing technology that can determine if a component is structurally sound and fit for service. Vibrant has developed PCRT applications focused on safety critical components found in the aerospace industry. These applications bring the power of PCRT to new product quality control and in-service product degradation tracking. Vibrant is now performing testing services for several major aerospace manufacturers and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) firms.
